Nominations for the 2024 MPA Skills & Galvins Plumbing Supplies Plumbing Apprentice of the Year Competition are open now!

Who is eligible?

The MPA Skills Plumbing Apprentice of the Year competition is open to all plumbing apprentices in Western Australia between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024.

Competition details

Simply complete the nomination form below. You’ll need your employer /host employer to confirm your availability. All nominations must be received by COB 4pm on Friday, 3 May 2024.

Theoretical assessment

Once your nomination is submitted, you’ll be required to attend a theoretical assessment session online on Thursday, 30 May 2024 from 7.30am to 9.30am. You’ll be asked a series of questions to assess your technical and general knowledge. The 20 highest scoring candidates move to the next stage.

Panel interview

The top 20 candidates progress to the interview stage with interviews being held between Wednesday, 5 June and Friday, 7 June 2024. All participants that make it to this stage are required to submit:

  • A letter of support from your employer or supervisor
  • Any other references from work-related contacts such as clients, suppliers and colleagues

The top 12 candidates then progress to the final practical assessment.  The practical assessment will be judged on skills only to decide 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in the 2024 MPA Skills & Galvins Plumbing Supplies Plumbing Apprentice of the Year Competition.

Practical assessment

The 12 finalists are required to attend the competition day on Thursday, 27 June 2024 at Maylands Campus for a full day of competition. Finalists will compete for points by completing practical activities across multiple areas.
